A discovery search is an online library tool that allows users to search across a wide range of content, including both print and digital resources, through a single search interface. This tool helps streamline the research process by providing access to various types of materials, such as books, articles, and databases, all in one place. There are times this is an effective search strategy. Other times, it is more efficient to search within a specific database.
You can search our library holdings for print books and eBooks. To access eBooks from off campus, use your Catawba College username and password.
A general term (e.g. immigration) will retrieve thousands of books on that topic. Use the Format box on the left to limit your search to books. You can also type in a more specific term to make your search more focused (e.g. "Illegal immigration" or "immigration laws").
Most current titles will be eBooks. These will be linked from the catalog search. For example, here is a picture of the catalog record for the eBook, Voices in the Dark: the Energy Lives of Refugees. When you find an eBook you would like to read, click on the link that says View eBook to read the book online.
