Welcome to this informational guide for Library Instruction Resources available from the Corriher-Linn-Black library here at Catawba College. While we offer video tutorials on our YouTube Channel, research guides and access to online databases, we can also create customized learning experiences to integrate into your course(s).
The library has many library instruction resources. You are not expected to be a research expert, know how to use specific technology or be conversant on a variety of digital tools. YOU are the SUBJECT-matter expert. The Library faculty and staff is here to bring the technology tools and digital pedagogy expertise into your curriculum. We will support you and help design lesson plans and correlate the digital tools to your course learning objectives and goals.
Faculty can choose from the following:
Library Instruction classes - Most library instruction sessions will follow a flipped model which will require having your students complete an introduction to research tutorial before coming to the library for class. Classes are customized and instruction is designed based on instructor requests and course or project learning goals.
LibWizard tutorials -Instructors can request custom designed tutorials to embed in Blackboard or provide as stand-alone assignments. Students work through the tutorial can be graded and students can submit the completed and graded tutorials to their professors.
Research Guides - Instructors can request custom-designed research guides for the course or topic based on student learning objectives.
Course-integrated digital projects/instruction - Instructors can request to integrate digital pedagogy and scholarship into the course design using resources from the Digital Learning Lab and/or online digital tools.
